Along with the full introduction of Zen Buddhism which started in the Kamakura period, ink paintings were established in paintings under the influence of Chinese Song and former paintings. Ikkonzumi and ink paintings of Yukari Daitokuji are exhibited, as well as squares.

In the Muromachi period, many artists also appeared in the rural area, many of whom were from samurai.
