The Gwacheon National Science Museum is the principal place of interests in Korea as a complex center of science and technology. It was grand opened on November 14, 2008. Considering the scale it is regarded as one of the biggest and most well-equipped science museums in the world with over 2,400 exhibits in a broad view built on the plottage of 243,970 -wide, the building area of 49,582 ㎡ and the exhibition area of 19,127㎡. The exterior of main building represents a futuristic flying object, representing humanity’s dream of the future, the creativity of exploration, and the potential of science and technology.

Permanent exhibition halls are arranged inside the main building such as Basic Science Hall, Advanced Science & Technology Hall, Children’s Hall, Natural History Hall, Korean Traditional Science Hall. There are also Planetarium, Astronomical Observatory, Insectarium, Eco-park, Outdoor Exhibition Area, Square of Science, Science Camp and a variety of amenities outdoors.

Children’s Hall (어린이탐구체험관) is a space where infants and children in childhood can develop physical, emotional, language, cognitive, and social skills that are the basis of growth and development through scientific play. The exhibition consists of 44 exhibits, of which 34 are exhibited. It is filled with interesting experiences that can be experienced sensibly, such as ‘Human exploration magic bus’ and ‘3D video room’.

The heavenly sector train map was produced in 1395 and is the second oldest astronomical map of the world with 282 constellations and 1,467 stars.

Although ‘natural history’ is a somewhat unfamiliar term, it is a very important concept in understanding the basis of everything that is now living on the earth. There are a total of 115 exhibits here, of which 23 are exhibited. Especially, ‘Living Earth SOS’ is a representative experience of nature officers who catch people’s eyes at once.
